STARKE Interface Pad - Sanding
STARKE Interface Pad
Precision Cushion Layer for Contour Control and Dust Extraction
The disc does the cutting. The interface pad controls how it cuts. STARKE Interface Pads are engineered to sit between your backing pad and sanding disc, adding a layer of cushion and conformability that changes how the abrasive interacts with the surface — especially on edges, curves, and transitions where control matters most.
More Cushion. More Conformability.
Built with a higher-density foam than standard interface pads, the STARKE Interface Pad gives the abrasive more give — allowing it to follow surface contours more naturally without the aggressive edge bite that causes uneven scratching or surface damage. When the pad tilts on edge, the cushion absorbs the angle and keeps the abrasive in consistent, even contact rather than digging in.
Edge Control Without Sacrifice
Edge cutting is one of the most common finishing problems in marine surface work. The STARKE Interface Pad reduces the tendency for the disc to cut aggressively when tipped, keeping finishing passes clean and controlled right to the edge without losing contact or consistency.
Hole-Matched Dust Extraction
Each pad features a precision hole pattern matched to STARKE backing pads — 67-hole for the 6", 33-hole for the 5", and 6-hole for the 3". The aligned holes allow sanding dust to be pulled through the entire pad stack and away from the cutting surface during use, keeping the abrasive cleaner, extending disc life, and maintaining a healthier work environment throughout the session.

FAQ
Will there be hands on demonstration?
Absolutely. We will have a boat in the shop to work on. We typically focus on the hull sides. All the Starke products, pads and machines will be on display and available for use.
Will there be classroom work?
Yes. We like to sit down and go over some over the basics. We will have a presentation and slideshow. We start by introducing everyone. We like to ask why each person came and what they wanted to gain from this experience. Once we figure that out we can then dial in the message to focus on where everyone needs the most information.
Is this an accreditation course?
